Daily Aidan

Dear Aidan,
Today, your Great Granddaddy Max Donovan Ludwig went home to be with Jesus. You were so lucky to have spent time with him on two different occasions, though we wish it were more. You definitely made an impression on Granddaddy. He always asked about you and how much you were growing, and was very proud to know that you received some of his stubbornness (though we all know he still had all of his) and that you loved guacamole just like him. He would also love knowing your new fondness for the American Flag, since he proudly fought for our country in his younger days.

We look forward to telling you many stories through the years about Granddaddy Max and our visits with him, since we know you won't remember him. In the meantime, here are some of the funny quotes we hold near and dear to our hearts:
"This used to be a Christian Nation." (When discussing politics)
"Hey Big Guy!" (The way he always addressed your daddy)
"Dammit woman, shut up 'til you know what you're talking about!" (when discussing rainfall totals with Grandmother)
"I guar-on-tee" (in a Cajun accent)
"C'mon, Cox!" (When watching Atlanta Braves baseball)
"I'd like to take a hammer to his kneecaps!" (Anytime a referee made a questionable play call)
"Sittin' on my coon dog, watchin' the boob tube" (A normal phone response to what he was doing at any given moment)

Yes, Granddaddy gave us many laughs over the years. But he also gave us wisdom, generosity, kindness, love, a joyful spirit, a love of the Lord, a beautiful example of a loving marriage, and a large family who adores him. We'll miss Granddaddy Ludwig but look forward to raising you the way he knew we could.

Love, Mommy and Daddy
