A Favor
Daily Aidan/A note from Aggie
Dearest Fair Blog Readers,
Several of you have been asking about me, and I truly appreciate your inquiries. It's good to know SOMEONE still cares. The past nine weeks have been an adjustment for moi, as I have now been labeled a "nuisance." What Mother and Father used to consider cute (stomping on Mother's belly or chest, constantly trying to cuddle with them, following them around like a puppy) now seems to irritate them.
For some reason, they have chosen to bring home this THING, this crying, flailing, drooling, snoring object that they label a "baby." I must do research on this "baby" and figure out how to program him to work to my advantage. Perhaps soon he will learn to prepare my tuna dinners to my liking. In the meantime, I am thrilled when anyone comes to visit and pays an inkling of attention to me. Please let my assistant (a.k.a. "Mother") know if you would like to schedule an appointment. And won't you bring salmon?

Back to Work
So today I started back to work. Amazingly enough, there were no tears on my part. I think I'm really lucky to love what I do, so I was looking forward to seeing everyone again. Plus, Grandma and Grandpa P are keeping him Saturday mornings, so I know he's in good hands.
I'm starting back slowly, Kindermusik for a few weeks then piano lessons after Labor Day. We are so fortunate that our schedules will allow us to be with Aidan almost all the time and he will not have to go to daycare. Plus, I have cut back significantly on my piano teaching, so I'll only be away from him a few hours at a time.
Today became a little bit complicated - I developed a delayed allergic reaction to my antibiotic that I was using to treat the mastitis, a fabulous bright red rash all over my body. Even my eyeballs are itching! I went to the doctor after Kindermusik and not only do I have the allergic reaction, I also have an inner ear infection. I am falling apart! :)
Aidan is feeling better today, but still very tired. Hopefully he'll be back to normal in the next day or so. Meanwhile, our nephews Kyle and TJ are over tonight and we are having a great time playing on the Wii Fit! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Aidan gets a pony, v.2
Our 8-week checkup was today. Aidan gets a pony for being such a good boy during his three shots and oral vaccination! Since we got home today, he has been a tired boy, sleeping most of the afternoon and evening. Every once in a while, he opens his eyes and screams like someone is cutting him up into little pieces, but quickly goes back to sleep. Strange. Anyway, here's a picture of the poor little guy:
As of today, Aidan weighs 12 pounds, 8.8 ounces - in the 75th percentile for weight and a 3 pound gain since last month. He is 24" long - in the 90th percentile for height and a 2 inch growth since last month. His head is 15.5" in circumference - a .5" growth since last month and the 50th percentile. What a big boy!!
Many, many thanks to Dr. Hostetler for taking such good care of our little Nugget!

SO cute
As I mentioned earlier, my Smrt family gave Aidan a darling blanket. Here are the pictures:
All around the perimeter of the blanket, it is embroidered with things like Aidan's birth stats, Aaron and I's names, the "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep" poem, and more. It is truly a treasure that Aidan will love for a long time!

Our Texas Trip
Here are the pictures from Aidan's first trip to Texas last month. I can't tell you how special it was for us to introduce him to his great grandparents for the first time. They are among the most important people in our lives, and seeing them hold Aidan was amazing.

Hello Lover
I am a lover of techie gadgets...especially cute pink ones. Check out my new phone!
My last PDA died this week while I was doing a software update, so darn the luck, I upgraded to this sweetheart. Cool thing is, they also replaced my old phone with an identical brand-new model for free, so Aaron is now the proud owner of a PDA and I am going to suck him into The World of Palm Pilot Addiction. Watch out, there's no turning back!

M.I.A.
Sorry I've been MIA the past few days. Tuesday morning I woke up with a blocked milk duct - painful, but I've had one before and knew what to do to get rid of it. However, later in the afternoon, I had chills and took my temperature - 100.6 degrees. I knew those two symptoms combined spelled the onset of mastitis, so I called my OB and had a prescription sent out for an antibiotic.
Long story short, my fever spiked at 102.1, Aaron came home from work early (thanks baby, I really needed you here with me) and though I'm lothargic and achy, things are getting better and there are no worries for any complications. Also, I can continue to nurse Aidan, which is of the utmost importance to me.
Anyway, I will try to catch up on my blogging as my energy comes back!

Thanks Ladies!
Saturday the knitters and I spent the night at Great Wolf Lodge. We had such a good time! It was my first night away from Aidan - I think I did really well! Aaron and Aidan had a guys' night after Aaron and our nephews TJ and Kyle spent the afternoon at the Great Wolf waterpark.
Amanda, Kate, AmyB, and Missy - thanks for a wonderful weekend. I love you guys!
(I say Hillshire, you say Farm. Hillshire...)

Lights Out
In a fun little twist, a UPS truck knocked down the power lines on our street Friday night, right before Aaron got home with our week's worth of groceries. The house started heating up really quickly, so Aidan and I hung out at Grammy & Granddaddy's house for the evening when Aaron went in early to work.
Thanks to Grammy & Granddaddy for letting us come over and feeding me dinner and ice cream. Also, many thanks to Grammy for putting Aidan to sleep - that 2-hour nap was the first time he'd slept more than 30 minutes all day!
